A video recording and editing app that allows users to create quality videos within seconds and be able to share them instantly. It provides camera features combined with filters and effects.

The Challenge

The main goals mapped for this product: to make a content-creation tool that was efficient and versatile, resulting in high-quality videos, created in a fast and seamless way.

Research and Key Takeaways

The starting point was a round of Discovery and Comparative Interviews with potential users to understand pain points, goals, behaviors and use cases. In total, 12 people were interviewed, between the ages 14 to 25.

A lot of useful information was gathered from these interviews. Three key takeaways were highlighted:
- Users wanted to capture and edit videos within the same app
- To share videos quickly, the app needed to be simple and not overwhelm
- It had to be optimized for content in vertical format and short duration

First Iterations

We turned research findings into the beginning of a functional product. It took rounds of iterations to get to a first version of Supr. Between these rounds, we would find a way to show what we had designed to a potencial users and gather feedback, so we knew we were moving in the right direction.

While sketching out the product screens the main features were identified, and the most relevant elements were highlighted in the interface. During this process, the most important thought was “how to generate new ideas to improved the user experience?”. Here are four images of the launched, working app:

Design

The design team collaborated closely with the development team to ensure our ideas were technically feasible. This way we were able to have a seamless handoff to developers, allowing for a quick release of the app. Below is a quick peak at the documentation for the camera:

Launch and Impact

The app had a very successful launch on the App Store, being featured as app of the day in 23 countries. It got a rating of 4.7 stars with more than 350 reviews in the first months of its launch.

Supr was also recognized by the Brazilian Design Awards in the Digital Design Category.
